BIG WIGHT MATTER: This family walking event is being supported by two major charities, Brainstrust and Brain Tumour Research, and it is in its second year and another chance to take in the stunning coastal views that the Island has to offer. Registration for the whole weekend is £45 for the family (two adults and two under 16s) or £15 per adult and your ticket includes the organised walks, access to the beer tent and live music on the Friday evening, live music on Saturday along with a hog roast. PENCIL ME IN: Oakwood Artists are holding an exhibition of various works done in pencil and dry media. The event is being sponsored by Derwent who will be providing a fascinating display of old pencils and art memorabilia. The group consists of seven artists who mostly concentrate on the natural world, Solent Life featured the amazing work of one of their number, Wendy Warren, some months ago. GOSPORT HERITAGE OPEN DAYS: It is easy to forget how deep in history the character of Gosport has been formed and this is a chance to discover many of the hidden treasures of the peninsula’s heritage. Events include a Family History Trail at Fort Brockhurst, musical performances at the stunning Holy Trinity Church, a Wild Harvest Festival at Grange Farm, exploring beneath a submarine at the Royal Navy’s Submarine museum and the exploration, on foot, of Haslar Hospital. CLASSIC VW WEEKEND: for fans of these classic vans this will be a treasure trove of beautiful objects. This is an opportunity for owners and enthusiasts to get together with plenty of entertainment and games t keep everyone amused for the whole weekend and culminating in a convoy that will head for Beaulieu for the day, an amazing sight on its own.
